Crochet a Single Stitch

In starting the crochet for beginners series we haven’t gotten to far. We are working on that.  Although, we have learned  how to make a slip stitch.  Followed by how to chain stitch. We practiced our chain stitch by making bracelets, how many did you make? This is a fun craft project for the kids or teens, they can make one for all their friends and family.

Here is your link to learn how to Crochet a Chain Stitch

Next, we learned how to crocheting single stitch.

Here is the lesson on  Crochet Single Stitch

Perhaps you are making your first craft project with crochet. You can make easy decorative crochet pot holders, by using the crochet single stitch. You will be able to decide on the size of your project, by how many chain stitches you make.
This is also a fun crochet project for beginners; creating your own crochet pattern,
for a beginner scarf, with this stitch.

Enjoy and let us know what fun ideas you came up with.

We used a basic single stitch.  Then, then we weaved an accent color around the edge and a couple of spaces up.

Cozy Snowmen

Seeing those first snowflakes fall is a day of dreaming for most kids. Lets us know winter is upon us. Time to make snowmen, snow angels, snowball fights and hot cocoa. What is better than a Snowman during the holiday’s?
Being in the San Tan Valley of Arizona we don’t get snow. So, that inspired us to make our own indoor snowmen. These are great for cozy snowmen centerpieces, or Christmas decorations for any table.
Perhaps make a family of snowmen! Invite each one of your family member to make there own personalized snowmen and group them together.
They are easy enough for small children to make.

We used Styrofoam balls, batting material, bamboo skier, wiggly eyes, pom pom’s, pipe cleaner and glue. For the hat and scarf we did a basic chain stitch.
Follow our step by step instructions with pictures…
